If you are reading this blog that probably means you aren't 100% obsessed in love with your body! That's okay, most of us aren't all the time. But there are a few things we can do to improve self love, confidence, and acceptance. Here are 5 ways to fall in love with your body as well as my story to self acceptance!

My journey to self love started with working out and wanting to change my body. I thought "if I could just lose 10lbs I would feel so much better about myself!" (and maybe my bf at the time would stop cheating on me. Well I lost 15lbs and still didn't love myself. If anything, I actually felt worse about my body and struggled a lot with body dysmorphia. (You can read more about my story here) While fitness can help you love your body more, a lot of people like me do it for the wrong reasons.

To actually love your body you have to do loving things to it and get comfortable in your own skin! Below are five tips that really helped me do just that and find confidence again. As I always say, take what you love and leave what you don't, but try everything at least once.

Show Gratitude for All Your Body Does

You may have read other self love blogs that tell you to stand in front of a mirror naked and compliment yourself every day until you love yourself. While I love affirmations (and being naked), this exercise may not work great for everyone and leave you feeling worse about your body at first.

If you struggle to see your body with love and tend to pick it apart frequently, start a gratitude list around what you body does for you instead! Maybe you are grateful your body lets you play with your kids, walk the dog, experience orgasms, dance at concerts, hike mountains, etc. Find gratitude in all the things your body allows you to experience in this world and soon you will be loving every inch of it!

This is called "body neutrality" and helps you detach from just seeing your body's appearance. You can also start using neutral affirmations such as "I have a body" or "my body is the least interesting thing about me" if you want to incorporate that into your daily self love practice.

Donate Any Clothes That Don't Make You Feel Good

You are not meant to fit into your clothes...your clothes are meant to fit YOU! So donate or repurpose those jeans that are too snug and make you feel yucky. Anything that doesn't spark joy as Marie Kondo would say has to go! There are so many organizations that will take your old clothes or you can turn them into something else if you are crafty! (this blog has 27 ideas for you to repurpose your clothes!)

Now that you have made space in your closet, fill it with clothes you feel good in! Find a few staple items that fit well and make you feel like a goddess. A mini shopping spree may be in your future!

Do Loving Things to Your Body

It's really hard to love your body if you aren't doing loving things to it. Starting today do ONE thing every day to show your body some love. I find the more intentional I am with creating this self care moments, the more I appreciate and see my body with love. Here are a few ideas of loving habits you can start:

These little things like a new skincare routine, eating nutritious foods, working out, practicing gratitude or maybe self pleasure (btw this Instagram post has some tips for you on that!) can all help you love your body a little more without changing it at all!

Get Naked More!

If you want to be more comfortable in your skin, get use to being JUST in your skin. When's the last time you were naked other than before a shower or getting dressed? You may think I am crazy and want to skip to the next tip, but I promise being naked is so FREEING!

Start small with sleeping naked or just taking a few extra minutes before getting dressed to admire your body in your mirror. If you are ready to really embody this, dance or do yoga naked in front of a mirror! It may be awkward at first and every angle won't be your best, but soon you'll start your appreciate more and more things about your body. Notice how it moves & grooves, the cute tummy rolls, muscle definition in places you never knew, stretch marks like battle scars, and everything else that makes your body unique.

EFT Tap on Loving Yourself More

Emotional Freedom Tapping is my GO-TO personally and with my clients for any thoughts I need to shift. This simple practice of tapping on various points of your body while repeating a script aloud helps rewire your brain. Don't worry it doesn't hurt, but you will feel immediate results!

There are tons of free resources online like the tapping video I am sharing below! If you really want to dive into tapping and loving your body more. The Tapping Solution For Weight Loss and Body Confidence is a fabulous read with tons of tapping scripts to follow.

Of course, these are just some of the ways to love your body! Everyone's journey to self love and acceptance is different. But the only way to find out what works for you is to start trying new things.

I'd love to hear what you do to love yourself more or what practice you are going to try in the comments!

massive love,

ps. Just a little reminder - regardless of how you feel in your body today you are worthy of love, abundance, support, and all your desires <3
